Collection: OTHERNESS PANGEA
The name Pangaea or Pangea originates from the Ancient Greek “pan” (meaning all, entire or whole) and “Gaea” (meaning Mother Earth or land). Pangea was a supercontinent from around 300 million years ago which was made up of North America, Africa, South America, and Europe.
Otherness Pangea are a series of small works in A4 and A3 from the Otherness Collection. Each painting is created both individually and as part of a bigger whole, thus, all artwork from the Pangea series fits together as one aesthetic, regardless of size or orientation of each individual work; allowing the collector to build their own bespoke and changeable painting - in the same way that you’d put together a puzzle - by acquiring multiple pieces in order to create a larger work. A work that can not just be added to overtime, but also can continuously change by adding further pieces, changing its placement or orientation by either 180 or 360 degrees - leading to a completely different view, each time.
